The Bridge Barber wins the MyLaverieAward 2023: a dual activity concept to develop a local clientele

The MyLaveryAward jury awarded the prize for the most beautiful laundromat 2023 equipped with Electrolux Professional equipment to “The Bridge Barber”.

Abdel Bengaouer, manager of the establishment located in Plessis Belleville in France, opens the doors of his atypical business to us. The particularity of the place, a beautiful laundry integrated into a Barber Shop which delights customers but also the team of barbers! An original idea that has many advantages. Discover them and you too can integrate a laundromat into your local establishment.

A laundry in a Barber Shop, a concept that comes from very far away. Directly imported from the United States, the concepts of dual activities in local stores are a hit across the Atlantic. Abdel, owner of the establishment, was immediately attracted by this idea of linking two activities. Two activities, the first of which is generally oriented towards pleasure and relaxation and the second which requires waiting for customers.

“I worked with an English architect to set up my business. The whole concept of my Barber Shop is focused on design and retro spirit. I integrated vintage barber chairs, a decor that recalls the American spirit of yesteryear… I even parked a motorcycle in my living room! With my architect, we chose Electrolux Professional because the brand was recommended to us but also because the design of the machines corresponds very well to the decoration and the universe that we wanted to give to the establishment.

Today, 70% of my customers coming to the Barber Shop use my laundromat. My clients save time in their day because their laundry cycles are carried out while they are being pampered in the salon! “, explains Abdel.

Opening a laundromat in a local business offers many advantages.

Abdel’s two activities are linked together, but also remain independent after dark: the Barber Shop is located in the front part of the establishment. The laundry is, for its part, installed at the back of the commercial premises. The two activities communicate with each other through a communication door which remains open during the day. When the Barber Shop closes, only the laundromat remains accessible to customers because the two activities each have their own entrance door.

Sydney Durand, our Electrolux Professional Laundry expert, explains to us that laundromats integrated into local businesses have many advantages, they:

– Offer a dual service to customers to save them time
– Help attract new customers who usually use laundromats
– Can optimize space and bring added value to establishments
– Support owners in processing the linen of their first business
– Add additional turnover

Laundromats can be installed in many local businesses. Ideas for concepts are gradually flourishing in shared spaces such as sports halls, coworking spaces, bookstores, hairdressers, bars, etc.

What equipment is used in The Bridge Barber laundromat?

The laundry includes:

3 Line 6000 washing machines all equipped with the “weighing” function which saves water, energy and detergents:

– 1 WH6-8 washer – (8kg)
– 1 WH6-11 washer – (11kg)
– 1 WH6-14 washer – (14kg)

On the drying side, the establishment is equipped with a Line 6000 double dryer, a range available in electric, gas or heat pump energy. Depending on the model, energy savings can reach more than 60%:
