Protecting a finite resource through innovation

Water is a finite resource growing in demand. Increasing global population, climate change and inadequate infrastructure, to name just three, combine to leave many countries unable to meet accelerating demand.
By 2050, three out of four people worldwide could be impacted by droughts, and it’s almost certain that poor and marginalized groups will continue to suffer most, affecting their health and ability to earn a living. World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, aims to inspire action to tackle the global water crisis.
While there is no single solution to eliminating water scarcity, every industry should look to reduce consumption where possible, no matter how incremental the changes might seem.

Small savings, significant impact

Historically, the professional laundry industry has been unavoidably water-intensive, especially when it comes to washing. Thousands, if not millions, of machines operate across the world daily, supplying healthcare, hospitality and industrial facilities with clean linen that must be treated to the highest standards.

The scale is enormous. Yet, this means that even marginal reductions in consumption per cycle translate into equally substantial gains when scaled across the industry. It therefore falls on manufacturers to drive meaningful change through innovation, providing operators with the solutions capable of cutting water use.

At Electrolux Professional Group, that’s exactly what we’re doing.

No drop wasted

Our Line 6000 washers with ClarusVibe Control incorporate a unique Automatic Savings program that uses the required volume of water in line with the weight of the load, not a drop more.

Thanks to an extraction speed of 450G, the machine uses as little as six liters of water per kg of laundry, reduction of over 50% compared to an appliance from 20 years ago.

The smart Integrated Savings feature also displays the load capacity on the ClarusVibe control. This helps to stop the machine from being underloaded or overloaded, saving water and energy from being wasted on less-than-full loads, optimizing productivity and extending the lifetime of the washer.

Our Line 6000 Barrier Washers also provide businesses with an opportunity to reduce water consumption by 50%. This can be achieved by fitting a second drain valve, which allows for the recovery and reuse of water.

Less water is used. Processes are smoother. Operators have more control. It’s that simple.

Ease in every cycle

It’s easy to focus on efficiency solely from a water-saving lens. Yet, we believe ensuring an equal user experience is just as important, as helping to eliminate water scarcity across the sector doesn’t need to come at the expense of operator wellbeing.

Ergonomic performance is a core pillar of our innovation strategy. Every feature in our Line 6000 range has been crafted to alleviate physical strain, minimize repetitive actions and streamline the overall workflow.

Our washers and dryers are the first in the professional laundry industry to receive a prestigious 4-star rating from ErgoCert. For operators, this results in less fatigue and a lower risk of musculoskeletal injuries. Perks such as optimized door height, intuitive load positioning and user-friendly controls mean that every cycle is both efficient and effortless.

We’re ensuring that the benefits of water-saving innovation support every individual who interacts with our equipment.

Our responsibility

As World Water Day reminds us, protecting this finite resource requires action from every part of the value chain, and, to reiterate our earlier point, manufacturers must lead the way.

Operators can only play their part in reducing consumption if the appliances they rely on are built to do so, all while supporting a safer, more inclusive working environment. We recognize this responsibility and will continue to help businesses on the road towards a more resilient future.
