Small businesses like B&Bs, fitness centers and hairdressers know the importance of removing any trace of stains from their laundry. Stains can be hard to remove and sometimes require multiple washing cycles. Time is key in such businesses and the quality delivered must be impeccable.
Here we just grouped few tips on how to remove stains that may save your business time while delivering high standard results.
Remove blood stains
Rinse with cold water immediately. Then wash as recommended on the care label.
Remove ink, ballpoint pen, and colored pencil stains
Try using a stain/spot remover first. If that does not work, try with methylated spirits. Rinse away the ink/color and repeat until the stain is gone.
Remove berries and other fruit stains
Wash at 95 °C if the fabric will stand it. If the stain is still there, on white garments you can try oxalic acid solution, which might bleach out the color stain.
Remove chocolate stains
Carefully scrape off any chocolate remaining, then wash as recommended on the care label. You can also freeze the garment and then brush the chocolate off before washing it.
Remove coffee stains
Rinse immediately with cold water then wash as recommended on the care label.
Remove ketchup, tomato and grass stains
Pre-treat the stain with a stain-removing soap. Wash as recommended on the care label. If the stain remains, wash again immediately with a laundry detergent containing bleach.
Remove resin stains
Dissolve the stain with a rag soaked in turpentine. Then wash as recommended on the care label.
Remove lipstick stains
Pre-treat the stain with dishwashing liquid and then wash as recommended on the care label. Rub with soap if the stain still persists.
Remove oil stains
Dissolve the stain with a grease solvent (dishwashing liquid or similar). Rub with soap then wash as recommended on the care label.
Remove rust stains
Dissolve the stain with tartaric or citric acid. Wash as recommended on the care label.
Remove red wine stains
Cover the stain with table salt to absorb the wine. Pre-wash by hand with dishwashing liquid, then wash in the washer as recommended on the care label (preferably with a detergent containing bleach). Alternatively try removing red wine stains with a small amount of white wine.
Remove butter and margarine stains
Pre-treat the stain with a grease solvent (dishwashing liquid or similar). Rinse, then wash as recommended on the care label.
Remove candle wax stains
Remove as much wax as possible. Place a double layer of paper towel underneath and on top of the stain. Iron with a warm, dry iron. Remove the stain with a grease solvent (dishwashing liquid or similar).
