Jyrkkälänpolku multi-housing property – communal and peaceful living
Jyrkkälä is a peaceful and close-to-nature apartment building area with approximately 1,400 residents located in the city of Turku on the southwest coast of Finland. Jyrkkälä has approximately 650 rental apartments in a total of 17 apartment buildings. The area was built between 1968 and 1974, after which the buildings have been systematically renovated.

Our company has its own cleaning and maintenance team, and we handle property management, financial administration and rent control ourselves,” describes Lauri Ahonen, CEO of the rental housing company Jyrkkälänpolku.
Sustainable and cozy
Jyrkkälänpolku is committed to developing ecological solutions in an effort to keep the carbon footprint of housing as small as possible. Solar panels installed on the exterior walls of the buildings, sustainable window and facade materials, motion sensors in lighting, and ventilation heat recovery are some concrete examples of Jyrkkälänpolku’s sustainable actions.
Resident democracy plays an important role in the everyday life and decision-making of the Jyrkkälä community. Residents are able to influence common matters through the residents’ committee they elect. The Jyrkkälä area is being developed continuously – in a resident-oriented and community-based manner.
“The peacefulness of the area, good services and the community spirit of the residents make living pleasant. There is hardly any car traffic in the yard, and children can always find something to do and playmates in the shared playgrounds,” says Antti Juhala, chairman of the Jyrkkälänpolku residents’ committee.
Ecological and harmonized laundry – utilizing the latest technologies
The machines in the Jyrkkälänpolku multi-housing laundry were renewed during 2024. Although each apartment has a space for a washing machine, the free common multi-housing laundry room has been in a very active use. New comprehensive laundry solution was considered together with the residents’ committee. One essential starting point for the solution was ecology – in line with Jyrkkälänpolku’s green values.
“We needed energy-efficient, environmentally friendly and easy-to-use equipment for our laundry, which are durable and able to serve a large number of users. Another important criterion was ability for quick maintenance”, describes Antti.

Our previous washing machines had reached the end of their life cycle, and we did not have an electronic reservation system for washing machines or dryers.
