{"id":13121,"date":"2021-09-01T09:03:37","date_gmt":"2021-09-01T07:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.electroluxprofessional.com\/?p=36263"},"modified":"2021-12-14T04:09:17","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T04:09:17","slug":"five-reasons-to-introduce-a-dishwasher-in-the-hospitality-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.electroluxprofessional.com\/sg\/five-reasons-to-introduce-a-dishwasher-in-the-hospitality-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Reasons to Introduce a Dishwasher in the Hospitality Industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][elx_heading text_color=&#8221;inherit&#8221;]After the Adoption of the EU Single-Use Plastic Directive[\/elx_heading][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Starting from <strong>July 3<sup>rd<\/sup> 2021<\/strong>, restrictions <strong>banned<\/strong> from the market <strong>single-use plastic products<\/strong> such as: cutlery, straws, stirrers, plates, polystyrene (EPS) cups and containers (largely used in the food industry), oxo-degradable plastic bags.<\/p>\n<p>Such restrictions are included in the <strong>EU\u2019s Single-Use Plastic Directive (SUPD)<\/strong>, a piece of legislation aiming to <strong>reduce plastic pollution<\/strong> and requires all stakeholders operating in the plastic supply chain to be compliant with <strong>a series of measures<\/strong>, included product bans, design requirements, separate collection targets, and extended producer responsibility schemes.<sup>1<\/sup>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<strong>The Impact of EU\u2019s Single-Use Plastic Directive on the Hospitality Business<\/strong><br \/>\nAny plastic stocks can be sold until exhausted, then producers, caf\u00e9s, restaurants, and other food businesses will need to <strong>switch to other greener solutions<\/strong>, like re-usable crockeries, or switch to items made of bamboo &amp; cellulose or other biodegradable materials with a lower environmental impact.<\/p>\n<p>All those businesses willing to embrace such a radical \u201cgreen\u201d change will find themselves facing a <strong>huge workload at peak times<\/strong>, since dishwashing requires <strong>time<\/strong> and <strong>manpower<\/strong>, with their related <strong>costs<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<strong>Why Taking-Up a Dishwasher to the Hospitality Businesses<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Single-Use Plastics Directive of the European Parliament highlights the importance of having <strong>valid dishwashing equipment<\/strong>, which becomes fundamental for Hospitality businesses such as bars, pubs, restaurants, and hotels to manage workloads quickly and efficiently -especially at peak times- in order to cope with five fundamental aspects.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<strong>1 &#8211; Business continuity<\/strong><br \/>\nThe eradication of a huge range of plastic goods from services will force those businesses not able to convert to the new, eco-sustainable materials, to a heavier workload during peak hours, since they will find themselves in washing a higher number of traditional plates and cutlery, thus slowing down activities. A dishwasher becomes then fundamental to ensure an <strong>optimal customer service<\/strong> and <strong>to reduce the workload of the staff<\/strong> that, in turn, can focus on more productive activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 &#8211; Hygiene standards<\/strong><br \/>\nIn a historical period in which hygiene standards have become more and more challenging, traditional, manual, washing of dishes and glasses is no longer enough to ensure the proper removal of bacteria.
