FAQ – myPRO Washer

My washing machine’s inlet hose is leaking

To solve the problem:

  • Check that the inlet tube connector is correctly screwed/pressed into the wall inlet or water tap. Do not use pliers or similar to depress the connector, it should only be depressed by hand!
  • Check that there is no leak from the inlet water tap. If you find a leak coming from the tap, call a plumber to solve the problem.

How to clean the rubber seal of your washing machine

How to clean the door seal and other internal parts of your washing machine:

  • This can also solve problems with marks or stains on clothes if quick-wash or low-temperature programmes are used very often.
  • Run a number of wash cycles at 90°C, without any laundry, but with a cup of sodium carbonate in the drum to clean the seal. (Sodium carbonate irritates skin and mucous membranes. Please use with extreme caution!)
  • Or you can use our special Electrolux Professional washing machine cleaner.

My washing machine is making a noise – moving and shaking when on the spin cycle

Make sure the transit bolts have been removed from the rear of the appliance.
Level the appliance by raising or lowering the feet. The appliance must be stable on a hard flat floor. If necessary, use a spirit level. Any adjustment can be made with a spanner. It is important that there is no ‘bounce’, as the appliance will vibrate during spin.
Make sure all hoses are securely fitted and clipped to the rear of the appliance’s casing. Loose-fitting hoses can vibrate against the appliance during spin cycles and make a ‘knocking’ noise.
Check that the washing has been loaded correctly and make sure no fabrics are caught between the door and drum.
REMEMBER! Having only one item loaded can cause an unbalanced spin, just the same as an overloaded drum.
In the event of loose coins, lighters, buttons or other small objects caught in the drain filter, check the filter if your machine has a visible one. Refer to your user manual for instructions on how to do this.
Loose underwire from bras – check the holes of the drum/in-between the drum sections
Normal noise – Can occur throughout the cycle – for instance, buckles and zips knocking on the glass, vibration on spin cycles, pumps and motors operating, water intake on filling cycles, elements heating up, fans operating on dry cycles (washer-dryers only), beeping upon cycle changes, electronics at start and end of cycle.

My washing machine’s door lock is broken

When a programme has just finished, the door cannot at first be opened. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean it’s broken – this is a standard feature and the door lock will release after around 2-5 minutes.
If you still can’t open the door after 2-5 minutes, check whether any of part of the handle shows damage. If so, you will need to order a service engineer to resolve this problem for you.

The seal of my washing machine’s door is twisted and leaking

Damage to the door seal is normally caused by:

  • Overloading the machine
  • Clothes becoming caught between the seal and the door glass at the start of a wash programme

In order for us to assist you further, determine the exact nature of your problem and hopefully resolve it, we recommend that one of our Authorised Service Engineers visit you to examine your appliance.

Laundry shrinks after washing.

How to wash wool
Wool is a natural fibre with a wide variety of applications. It can be a difficult material and should be treated with care for its form, colour and quality to be preserved.

Proper washing of wool
Wool is a natural material that needs to be washed and dried in a certain way. It is also always advisable to follow the washing instructions on clothing.

When washing wool, do not use enzyme-containing washing powder
Most types of laundry detergent contain enzymes that help dissolve grease and dirt, making it easier to get clothes clean. Wool cannot tolerate enzymes, as they can dissolve the wool. As such, it is very important that you do not wash wool with an enzyme-containing detergent. You can buy special wool detergents for this purpose.

Stains on laundry

Cause
If you only ever wash at 40°C or below, this will eventually result in a build-up of detergent and dirt residues in the washing machine. This can cause grey stains on laundry.

Stains on clothes/fabrics can also be caused by a chemical reaction to certain personal care or household products in combination with the detergent, for instance:
• Household bleach
• Acne cream
• Shampoo
• Perfumes
• Gels
• Hair dye

Solution
The solution is to run a number of wash cycles at 90°C, without any laundry, but with a cup of sodium carbonate in the drum to clean the seal and the internal parts of the washing machine. (Sodium carbonate irritates skin and mucous membranes. Please use with extreme caution!)

Or you can use our special Electrolux Professional washing machine cleaner.
